MTHY 301/CATS 631 - Introduction to Music Therapy

This course provides an introduction to the subject and profession of music therapy, including its history, key processes, and selected approaches. Didactic and experiential components provide students with a broad understanding of the application of basic concepts in music therapy.

Notes: This course is intended as partial preparation for graduate studies in the field of music therapy.

Course material refers to all content that is needed to be licensed, acquired, or leased for the purpose of offering the online course.

Prerequisite

Must have completed a minimum amount of 30 credits; PSYC 200 or equivalent; Must have completed 6 credits in Music

  • Defining Music Therapy is available through the Concordia Bookstore or as an ebook or print through the Barcelona Publishers website.
  • The Music Therapy Handbook is available through the Concordia Bookstore or as an ebook at library through the Guilford Press website.
  • Both textbooks are available in electronic format on the Concordia library website.
