What are the technical requirements for accessing the online material?

The technical requirements for accessing the online material are listed below. If your existing hardware does not meet the requirements below, you may experience a lower level of quality and accessibility to our website and course content.

Hardware Requirements

PC

Minimum configuration for PC:
•    Operating System: Windows 98, 2000 or Windows XP
•    CPU: Pentium 3, 500Mhz
•    System Memory (RAM): 256MB
•    Network Speed: 56K modem or better
•    Graphics and screen: Super VGA (800x600) or higher-resolution
•    Sound card and speakers or headphones

Recommended configuration for PC:
•    Operating System: Windows XP or Windows Vista
•    CPU: Pentium 4 2.0 GHz+ or AMD 2000xp+
•    System Memory (RAM): 1 GB
•    Network Speed: Cable or High Speed Internet
•    Graphics and screen: Super VGA (1024x768) or higher-resolution
•    Sound card and speakers or headphones


Mac
Minimum configuration for Mac:
•    Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4
•    CPU: G3 500Mhz
•    System Memory (RAM): 256MB
•    Network Speed: 56K modem or better
•    Graphics and screen: Super VGA (800x600) or higher-resolution
•    Sound card and speakers or headphones

An error message appears when I try to access a page.

If you are getting an error on a page that you are trying to view, please proceed as follows:

   1. Log out of your eConcordia portal.
   2. Close your browser.
   3. Open your browser and log back in to your eConcordia account.

If, after logging back in, you are still experiencing problems with the page, please send an e-mail to the help desk at helpdesk@econcordia.com containing the link to (or a screen shot) of the page that you are having problems with.

I am encountering problems logging in to my account; I am continually getting logged out.

1. Ensure that your security settings are not set too high and that eConcordia is in your list of accepted websites.

    Internet Explorer:

    Lowering the security level:

       1. Open Internet Explorer.
       2. From the Tools menu, click on Internet Options.
       3. In the Internet Options dialog box, select the Privacy tab.
       4. Bring the slider to the Medium-High level.
       5. Click Apply.
       6. Click Ok to accept the changes and close the dialog box.
       7. Click on the Refresh button in Internet Explorer.

    Adding econcordia.com to your list of allowed websites:
       1. Open Internet Explorer.
       2. From the Tools menu, click on Internet Options.
       3. In the Internet Options dialog box, select the Privacy tab.
       4. Click on the Sites (Edit for previous versions of IE) button. This will open a dialog box.
       5. Enter http://www.econcordia.com in the text box Address of website.
       6. Then click Allow.
       7. Click Ok twice to accept the changes and close the dialog boxes.
       8. Click on the Refresh button in Internet Explorer.

    Mozilla Firefox:

         1. Open Mozilla.
         2. From the Tools menu, click on Options.
         3. Click the Privacy option on the left-hand menu.
         4. Click on the ‘+' next to the Cookies option to expand the Cookies box.
         5. Click on the Exceptions button. This will open a dialog box.
         6. Enter http://www.econcordia.com in the text box Address of website.
         7. Then click on the Allow button.
         8. Click Ok to close the Exceptions dialog box.
         9. Click Ok to close the Options dialog box.
        10. Click on the Refresh button in Mozilla Firefox.

2. If you have a firewall, please add http://www.econcordia.com to your safe list.

I cannot access or log on to the discussion board.

The discussion board will be available as of the date indicated in the course outline. If, after this date, you are experiencing issues with the message board, send an e-mail to discuss@econcordia.com to report and resolve any discussion board issues.

I cannot play videos or other multimedia content.

1. Please verify that you have downloaded the required software for your course. This information can be found on the Technical Requirements page in the Getting Started section of your course website.

2. Please ensure that you have the following browser settings:
        a. Make sure JavaScript is enabled.

        Internet Explorer:

           1. Open Internet Explorer.
           2. From the Tools menu, click on Internet Options.
           3. In the Internet Options dialog box, select the Security tab.
           4. Click Custom level button at bottom. The Security Settings dialog box will pop up.
           5. Under Scripting category, enable Active Scripting, allow paste options via script and Scripting of Java applets.
           6. Click Ok twice to accept the changes and close the dialog boxes.
           7. Click on the Refresh button in Internet Explorer.

        Mozilla Firefox:

           1. Open Mozilla.
           2. From the Tools menu, click on Options.
           3. Click on the Web Features option on the left hand menu.
           4. Check Enable JavaScript.
           5. Click Ok to close the Options dialog box.
           6. Click on the Refresh button in Mozilla Firefox.

        b. Ensure that your security settings are not set too high and that eConcordia is on your list of accepted websites.

I click on a link and nothing happens.

Your browser or third-party software may be blocking pop-up windows, thus preventing you from viewing the material.  Please read the information below which corresponds to the software you are using.

Internet Explorer:

   1. Open Internet Explorer.
   2. From the Tools menu, point to Pop-up Blocker, and click on Pop-up Blocker Settings.
   3. In the Address of website to allow box, type http://www.econcordia.com.
   4. Click Add.
   5. Click Ok to close the dialog box.
   6. Click on the Refresh button in Internet Explorer.

Mozilla Firefox:

   1. Open Mozilla.
   2. From the Tools menu, click on Options.
   3. Click the Web Features option on the left hand menu.
   4. Next, to Block Popup Windows, click on the Allowed Sites button.
   5. This will open another dialog box. Add http://www.econcordia.com in the Address of website text box.
   6. Click on the Exceptions button. This will open a dialog box.
   7. Enter http://www.econcordia.com in the text box Address of website.
   8. Click on the Allow button.
   9. Click Ok to close the Allowed Sites dialog box.
  10. Click Ok to close the Options dialog box.
  11. Click on the Refresh button in Mozilla Firefox.

Third-Party Software:

If you have third-party software, please add eConcordia (http://www.econcordia.com) to your list of allowed websites.

I forgot my username and password.

You can retrieve your password by using the password retrieval tool:
1. Access the password retrieval tool here.
2. Enter your student ID number and click Submit.
3. Type your secret answer and click Submit.
4. Once you have answered your secret question, you will automatically receive your account information via e-mail.
